Environment Canada and the province of Ontario have issued a special air quality statement for Chatham-Kent and Windsor-Essex.

Officials say there are high levels of air pollution over extreme southwestern Ontario today.

A special air quality statement is issued due to high concentrations of ground level ozone.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.

Children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.

If you, or someone in your care, develop symptoms, reduce or reschedule strenuous outdoors activities where ever possible until the air quality improves.

For information on how to reduce risk, and your personal contribution to pollution levels, and for current and forecast AQHI values please refer to www.airhealth.ca.
