The Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village is receiving a $5,000 grant from Medavie Health Foundation to help fund Delta P.A.L.S. – Philanthropy, Anti- Bullying, Leadership, Self-Love and Love for Others.
The week-long program focuses on anti-bullying and self-harm prevention, while highlighting healthy eating, exercise and leadership skills for young females between the ages of 6-12.
Volunteers from the University of Windsor chapter of Delta Zeta Sorority work one-on-one with program participants to build overall health in a fun and interactive day-camp setting.
The program brings together an array of community partners including female representatives from local police, firefighters, paramedics and the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit speaking on a variety of health and wellness topics.
Delta P.A.L.S. will run from July 20-24 with a second camp scheduled for August. Up to 50 girls from across Chatham-Kent are expected to attend the program.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 519-360-1270 for program details and to register.
