Murder suspect arrested in Chatham

A suspect has been arrested in Chatham, following a murder last month in Thames Centre.

Members of the Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a Westminster Drive address shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015. Upon arrival they discovered the body of 51-year-old Robert St. Denis at the scene deceased.

Following a post-mortem examination on June 26, 2015 the investigation was deemed to be a homicide.

Today, Detectives from West Region Criminal Operations and the OPP Emergency Response Team, under the direction of Acting Detective Inspector Mark Zulinski of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) arrested 48-year-old Stephen Douglas Gautreau of no fixed address in Chatham, Ontario.

He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in London Ontario on Friday, July 17, 2015 charged with 2nd Degree Murder contrary to the Criminal Code.

This is an ongoing investigation.
