In the Wallaceburg Lakers home opener on Wednesday, is was the Dresden Kings walking away with a 4-3 victory.
Derrick VanEvery’s goal in the second period proved to be the game winner.
Will Tetzlaff was solid for Dresden, netting two goals.
Dresden also got a goal from Dillon Liberty as well.
Jacob Theoret, Justin Melo and Cory Lucier scored for Wallaceburg in the loss.
Former Lakers goalie and current Kings backstop Joel Sowinski made 19 saves in the win.
Derion Ducedre recorded 21 saves for Wallaceburg.
Referees had their hands full at the 10:12 mark of the third period, as four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.
The Lakers drop to 0-2-0 on the season, while Dresden improves to 2-0-0.
Wallaceburg will head to Wheatley on Monday, and Dresden will host Amherstburg on Friday.
