Boston Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney announced on Monday that Seth Griffith of Wallaceburg will miss three to four weeks with a MCL sprain in his left knee.

Bruins officials say the injury occurred in the third period at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, RI, where the Bruins were playing their pre-season opener against the New Jersey Devils.

Griffith told the Sydenham Current this summer that his goal is crack the NHL roster, and stay there.

“I think everybody’s goal is to make it to the NHL,” he said. “You don’t want to go back to the minors but I’m still young so if I have to go to Providence a little more that’s fine. I’m just going to go in with the mentality to make the team and stay there.”

In 30 games with Boston last year, Griffith netted 6 goals, and added 4 assists for 10 points. In 39 games in the AHL with the Providence Bruins he scored 12 goals and added 19 assists for 31 points.
