Community Living Wallaceburg has purchased a new vehicle equipped with the necessary devices to enable people support by the Agency to continue to access their community.
The vehicle purchase was funded in part by Enterprise Holdings and the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation, through the South Kent Wind Community Fund. The funds were presented to Community Living Wallaceburg earlier in the year, with the vehicle customization taking several months to complete.
“Reliable and accessible transportation is vital to our organization and to our clients, given that we operate in a rural area where public transit is often not an option,” said David Katzman, executive director of Community Living Wallaceburg. “The overwhelming generosity shown by the Chatham-Kent Community Foundation and Enterprise Holdings will ensure people continue to participate fully in all elements of community life.”
Community Living Wallaceburg maintains a fleet of five accessible vehicles that are used by approximately 100 people and their staff to attend many appointments and functions.
The cost associated with purchasing this accessible vehicle was in excess of $65,000.
