Plane crashes at Chatham airport

The Sydenham Current is at the scene of a plane crash at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport.

Update at 11:30 a.m. – Police are currently in a farmer’s field east of the airport.Ā Reports say it appears the plane crashed about 100-150 yards from the runway.

Chatham-Kent police say this morning around 9:20 a.m. emergency crews responded to the Chatham Airport in regards to the crash.

“A small plane crashed just east of the airport,” police officials stated.

The pilot and lone occupant was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Chatham-Kent EMS tweeted that one patient was assessed, treated and transported with minor injuries.

Transport Canada has been notified of the crash.

Original story – Emergency crews are on scene at the Chatham Airport, after a small plane crashed just east of the airport.

Chatham-Kent police say the lone occupant (pilot) has been transported to hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Transport Canada has been notified.

Chatham-Kent EMS said on Twitter that the pilot had only minor injuries.
