Around 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, a Chatham resident attended police headquarters with a suspicious package.

The front lobby was placed under quarantine, however the building was not evacuated.

A local HAZMAT team was advised of the situation.

Through investigation, police learned that the package was sent by a company known as Mysterious Package in Toronto which sends gag jokes and storytelling orders upon request.

The package did not contain anything hazardous or suspicious.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to remind everyone that should you receive a suspicious package in the mail, do not transport the item, please call 911 immediately so we can contain any possible affected areas.
