Wallaceburg Christmas Parade – 2 p.m.

Here is everything you need to know to prepare for Wallaceburg’s 46th annual Knights of Pythias Christmas Parade:


Breakfast with Santa

– Breakfast with Santa starts at 8 a.m. and goes until 11 a.m. at the K of P hall on Nelson.

– Cost is $4 for kids and $6 for adults.

– There will also be a photographer on hand, and photographs with Santa will be for sale.

– Blakey N’ Sons and Dresden Meat Packers are sponsoring the breakfast, and the first 100 kids are FREE.


Christmas Parade

– Organizers are encouraging people to come with their floats early at around 1 p.m. to get setup on Arnold Street

– The annual parade takes place in Wallaceburg on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.

– The theme is Walt Disney.

– The route will follow the same path as usual, down Dufferin, right onto Nelson and then wrapping up at the St. Clair Catholic District School Board parking lot on Duncan Street.


Lawn tractors

– The K of P is hoping to break the record for most lawn tractors in a parade.

– The record currently sits at over 800.

– Back in 2013, the Wallaceburg parade included nearly 300 lawn tractors.

– Lawn tractors will be lining up at Stealth Metals, which is located where Sydenham Recycling use to be at 100 Mason Street

– A BBQ is being put on by Stealth Metals, and hamburgers and hotdogs will be sold.

– Blakey N’ Sons will also be providing coffee and hot chocolate.

– There are 10 categories for prizes this year:

1. Oldest unrestored

2. Oldest restored

3. Red neck

4. Hot rod

5. Most outrageous

6. Best in parade theme

7. Farthest travelled

8. Hard luck

9. Most creative

10. Most ingenuitive


Items being collected during the parade

– The Chatham-Kent Fire Department is collecting canned goods and non-perishable food items for St.Vincent de Paul and Salvation Army

– The firefighters are also collecting toys for their toy drive.

– The Wallaceburg Animal shelter is accepting donations, including: Dawn dish soap (regular), old towels and blankets, bleach , dog toys, treats and leashes.

– Canada Post is gathering letters to be sent to Santa Claus.

– A 2 p.m. expect a mix of sun and cloud with a temperature hovering around 8°C or 46°F.
