Fatal crash between a train and vehicle

Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is presently at the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a freight train, which occurred at approximately 12:39 p.m. on Euphemia Line, Dawn-Euphemia Township.

On Monday November 16th, 2015 Lambton County OPP was requested to attend the area of Euphemia Line and Cairo Road, Dawn-Euphemia Township, regarding a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motor vehicle and a freight train.

Chatham-Kent Police Service was initially dispatched along with Canadian Pacific (CP) Police, local Fire departments and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The lone occupant of the motor vehicle was transported to hospital by EMS but succumb to the injuries sustained in the collision.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) has been requested to attend the scene.

The investigation is on-going at this time.

Cairo Road at Euphemia Line has been closed and will remain closed for an unknown period of time for investigative purposes.

The general public are asked to try to avoid the area during this time for the safety of all emergency responders that are still on scene.
