On December 14, 2015, just before 3:00 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on a Buick Century for a traffic violation on Highway 40, near Arnold Road.

While the officer was speaking with the 59 year-old male driver from Dresden, it was determined that he had been consuming alcoholic beverages.

A roadside test was completed which resulted in a warn range suspension.

The driver was served with a three day driver’s licence suspension.

The approaching holiday season brings an increase in the number of alcohol impaired drivers on our roadways.

Chatham-Kent OPP would like to remind drivers that there is no safe amount of alcohol consumption when driving.

If you consume alcoholic beverages, plan for a safe ride home by using a designated driver, a taxi or public transit to ensure that you and others sharing the road arrive safely.

Chatham-Kent OPP are also asking the public to report suspected impaired drivers and call police if you see someone who gets behind the wheel after they have been drinking.
