The Wallaceburg Lakers are set to gather some items for the Salvation Army.

During their home game against the Mooretown Flags tonight (January 6), the Lakers are holding a food drive to help the Salvation Army stock their shelves at the food bank after the Christmas season.

Captain Stephanie Watkinson of the Salvation Army said food items are always needed, year round.

“Right now the food bank shelves are healthy… give us a month, and it will be a different story,” she said.

Anyone who brings in a non-perishable food item to the game will have the chance to win some prizes as well.

The prizes up for grabs include:

– 64,000 BTU stock pot cooker

– Golf bag

– Lakers puck and game pass

The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.
