An attempted murder case, which stems from a physical altercation at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg back in May 2014, is moving to the Superior Court of Justice.

A preliminary hearing was held for Taylor Ermatinger of Wallaceburg back on Oct. 9.

After the hearing, the case was committed to the Superior Court.

Ermatinger will be back inside a Chatham courtroom on March 7, 2016.

“Hopefully for setting a date for a trail that day,” Chatham-Kent court officials told the Sydenham Current.

The March 7 appearance will be held in courtroom 201 at 10 a.m.

The Chatham-Kent police arrested Ermatinger and charged him with attempted murder in connection with a disturbance in Wallaceburg.

Police officials say on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, just before 12:30 a.m., police responded to an altercation between two men known to each other at Sam’s Hotel on Dufferin Avenue.

A 19 year-old Walpole Island man was transported to the Sydenham District Hospital with life threatening head injuries.

Ermatinger, had originally been denied bail in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 4, 2014.

However, a bail review was requested.

A Superior Court Justice overturned the decision and granted Ermatinger a release on a recognizance on July 21, 2014, which includes a long list of conditions.

A publication ban remains in place on the evidence discussed in court.
