From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
It was Robert Collier who once said, “Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.”
If you don’t believe Collier, then I suggest you ask any accomplished athlete or musician. <!–more–>
You don’t go from Grade 9 gym class to Olympic podium overnight.
You don’t play chopsticks one day and Beethoven’s Ninth symphony the next.
What the viewing audience doesn’t see when they watch the Olympic Games, or a concert at Carnegie Hall, are the early mornings before the sun is up and the late nights when everyone else is in bed.
There is frustration, fatigue, and failure in the daily grind towards the goal.
Quantum leaps rarely appear in the world of those who have achieved success.
It takes great determination to keep at something, day in and day out, when nobody is watching and pats on the back are nowhere to be seen.
While others are out taking things easy and enjoying life at a leisurely pace, the one who aspires to success is hard at it.
Jesus put it this way in Luke 16:10: “He who is faithful in a very little thing is faithful also in much; and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is unrighteous also in much.”
Show me someone who is willing to commit to the long haul, stringing together a vast sum of smaller efforts over a significant period of time, and I will show you someone who has programmed the GPS of their life to make success their destination.
The year has barely started and fresh opportunity awaits.
What will it take to get you on to the road to success?
