Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad captured a gold medal in the 100 metre backstroke for 15 and under girls at the Speedo Eastern Canadian Open on Thursday, which is being held in Montreal.
The 15-year-old Chatham Y Pool Shark swimmer had a personal best time of 1:02.13 in the event.
Broad also placed 10th in the ‘A’ final for the 50 metre butterfly event. She posted a time of 29.34 seconds.
She is entered into eight events at the meet, which wraps up on Sunday.
Broad will also be swimming in Orlando, Florida at the Grand Prix from March 3 to 5, and she’ll be heading to the Olympic time trials in Scarborough in April.
