Rooms and office space available for lease at D.A. Gordon

d.a.-gordon

The owner of the D.A. Gordon building and property is looking to fill some space at the former Wallaceburg school.

Alexei Roudakov told the Sydenham Current he has approximately 21 rooms available for lease at the King Street location.

“At this point, whatever people need I am more than welcome to accomodate,” he said. “It’s on a first come, first serve basis.”

Roudakov said back in October, when he purchased the property, that his long-term plan for D.A. Gordon is to turn it into a private school, daycare and college facility.

Roudakov told the Sydenham Current this is still the case, however he is not yet ready to move forward.

“A school is a huge project,” he said.

“It’s not like a one-day project. If I decided it was going to be tomorrow, it’s not going to happen. I wouldn’t need such a huge space… even if I started in September, I still wouldn’t need that huge building. Part of it I would lease and for the long term.”

Roudakov said the lease option could be ideal for church groups, sports activities, senior groups, or religious groups.

He said clubs or volunteer groups that need space, but might not want to enter into a lease, could be accommodated as well.

“I’m looking for all those kind of folks,” he said.

Office space for businesses could be another use, Roudakov added.

The property is listed with Re/Max Chatham-Kent Realty Inc.

Here are some details from the listing:

– Cost is listed at $7 per sq. foot, plus phone and Internet for the year

– There is approximately 34,000 sq. feet of rentable space available

– About 21 rooms are available

– The average size of the rooms are 600 sq. feet

– Cost of an average-sized room in the building would be about $350 a month

– There is ‘good price’ being offered at a cheaper rate to the first three leases

The former school officially closed its doors in June of 2014.

The decision was made to close the school after a lengthy accommodation review process in Wallaceburg.

The approximate $200,000 sale of the building and property was finalized in October.
