The 10th annual ARF event was held in Wallaceburg on Saturday night, and organizers are calling it a great success.
Maryanne Holland, owner of K9 Klips and the event organizer, said a total of $3,800 was raised at the nearly sold-out event at the Moose Lodge.
“We’re delighted… the event was a complete success,” Holland said.
ARF – which stands for Animal Rescue Fund – is money that goes towards the medical needs of dogs that come into the Wallaceburg Animal Shelter specifically.
Holland said a dog currently at the shelter named Dodger was checked for worms utilizing money from the fund, and they discovered he had Lyme disease.
“There is no medical avenue at the shelter,” Holland said. “This makes sure the animals are healthy and we bring them up to an adoptable state.”
Holland said the business community in Wallaceburg steps up year after year to donate prizes.
This year over $2,000 worth of prizes were handed out.
Holland said she has heard nothing but rave reviews from the band, Classic Vibe, and from people who overall had a great experience at the event.
“So many people came up and said they had a great time,” she said. “It’s a fun event for the whole family.”
