“Tom” Douglas Salisbury of Wallaceburg

1764139_profile_picMr Thomas “Tom” Douglas Salisbury, passed peacefully in his sleep on March 22, 2016 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus in Wallaceburg at the age of 49. Tom fought a courageous battle with his family by his side. Tom was born in Wallaceburg and was a son of Leonard Salisbury and the late Kay (Poole) Salisbury.

Tom leaves behind his beloved and dedicated wife Linda (Van Asseldonk) Salisbury. Tom was a loving step-son to Lois Salisbury. Son-in-law to the late Martin and Francis Van Asseldonk.

Tom was greatly loved and respected by his brother John (Linda) and sister Karrie Vankerkhoven Salisbury; brother in law to Tony (Joan), Lawrence and Robert (Kelly) VanAsseldonk, Maria (Rick) Kerr, Joanne (John) DeBruyn and Bernie (Harley) Taylor ; step brother to Kathy Allman (George) and Brian Hornick (Nancy). Tom enjoyed spending time with his many nieces and nephews and was especially close with Chris, Curtis and Calvin (Gemma)Vankerkhoven and Matthew (Leigh Anne) and Mike Salisbury. Special great uncle to Mitchell, Adrianna, Evelynn, Emma and Evan.

Tom was a courteous friend, neighbour and gentleman to many and especially close with his cousin Scott (Angie) Poole and his family.

Tom had a fulfilling career as an electrician and stood out to his friends and co-workers as a mentor and a true example of dedication.

Friends will be received at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg, on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Parish Prayers Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. from the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 from Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Wallaceburg, at 2 p.m.

Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the V.O.N. or Brain Tumour Foundation may be left at the funeral home.

As a living memorial, a tree will be planted in Nicholls Memorial Forest in memory of Thomas “Tom” Douglas Salisbury.
