Organizers for the Terry Fox Run in Dresden are hoping people trade in their shoes for skates on Tuesday evening.

The local organizing committee is teaming up with Dresden Minor Hockey on Tuesday, March 29 for a Terry Fox skate from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

“The Dresden Terry Fox Run celebrated its 20th Anniversary in 2015,” said Cindy Brewer.

“The 20 year total raised for cancer research in Dresden in approaching half a million dollars. The accounting year for the Run closes at the end of March and Dresden Minor Hockey could easily be the organization that will help Dresden reach this incredible goal.”

Brewer said if the Minor Hockey Terry Fox Skate raises $1,180, that will clinch the $500,000.

“We encourage every skater and all coaching staff to participate in this event by collecting pledges and bringing them to the arena,” Brewer said.

It was a record breaking day at the Dresden Terry Fox Run in September.

A total of 383 people participated and volunteered at the event and $37,429.10 was raised.
