Wallaceburg Memorial Arena is on a list of municipal buildings due for significant lifecycle funding this year.
Chatham-Kent council will vote on a list of recommendations by staff for the 2016 arena capital asset lifecycle projects during their meeting on Monday night at the Civic Centre in Chatham.
Compressor upgrades totalling $67,750 is one of the recommended upgrades for Wallaceburg’s arena, along with shingles, gutters, downspouts and fascia replacement on part of the roof, totalling $17,500.
“The portion of the shingled roof over the upstairs mezzanine is in poor condition and needs to be replaced,” a staff report states.
“Visible signs of leaking are present.”
Also for Walaceburg’s arena, a total of $5,000 is being recommended for eaves trough covers, $3,575 is being requested to insulate a suction line on a compressor and $1,800 is being recommended to fix a dressing room door.
A total of $95,625 worth of upgrades are being recommended for Wallaceburg Memorial Arena, the most at any one arena in Chatham-Kent this year.
Dresden Arena is in line for a total of $64,300 in upgrades, including:
– Hall washroom upgrades, $15,000
– Repair to HVAC unit, $3,300
– Kick strip for lobby and washrooms, $5,000
– Sliding door inside main entrance, $13,000
– Replace hall exit doors, $5,000
– Mixing valve replacements for dressing rooms, $8,000
– Rubber flooring replacements in rooms 3 & 4, $15,000
Chatham-Kent staff is recommending a total of $137,500 worth of energy efficiencies at various arenas across the community as well.
“Energy efficiencies for savings in annual operating costs at various arena locations, for example, LED lighting, resurfacing laser levels, condenser VFDs,” a staff report says.
A total of $672,392 worth of funding is being sought by staff to tackle these “priority projects” at Chatham-Kent’s arenas.
