A new coaching staff is needed for the Wallaceburg Lakers.
“The Wallaceburg Lakers are looking to fill a few spots on the coaching staff for the 2016-2017 season,” the Great Lakes Junior ‘C’ Hockey League team stated.
The club is requesting that anyone that is interested and qualified to coach at the Junior ‘C’ level, to contact Ritch Kanally, general manager, at 519-792-4423 or oldkanzz@gmail.com.
The vacancies came up this week, when head coach Derek Ellis and assistant coach Ryan Paxton stepped down from their positions.
Kanally said they both felt their coaching style “would not fit in with the new direction of the team.”
The resignations happened less than a week after a new ownership group was introduced for the sqaud.
The Lakers have struggled in recent years, missing the playoffs for five consecutive seasons.
Wallaceburg finished last in the league in 2015/2016, finishing with a 3-37-0 record.
