Flora Marion Rikley, a resident of Dover Township / Mitchell’s Bay died peacefully at Sydenham Residence on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at age of 101.
Marion was the daughter of the late Neil & Frances Smith of Walkerton. Predeceased by her beloved husband Irad (1997). Loving mother of Judy Lindsay (Fred), Brian Rikley (Susan), and Tom Rikley (Lynn). Dear grandmother of Colleen (Phil), Shannon (Ryan), Toni (Dave), Joe (Eva), Jennifer (Steve), Kelly (Kory), and Amanda (Jarrod) and 18 great grandchildren.
Marion graduated from the Guelph General Hospital School of Nursing and met her husband while she was working in Guelph. They married and moved to Dover Township to farm. When the Sydenham Hospital was opened she applied for part time work and ended up the head nurse for the maternity Ward for over 25 years, assisting and delivering many of the Wallaceburg area babies. Marion was the go-to nurse for residents of Mitchell’s Bay offering her time and care for area residents.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK–CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 nelson Street Wallaceburg from 2-4 & 7-9PM on Sunday. The funeral will be celebrated at the funeral home on Monday, April 25 at 11 AM. Interment in Owen Cemetery, Dover Center. If desired, remembrances to the Sydenham District Hospital Auxiliary or The Heart and Stroke Foundation may be left at the funeral home. 519.627.3231.
