Union Gas donated $5,000 recently to the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) for its Conservation Education Program.

“Through this program, we educate our youth about the importance of our natural world. We reach out to students with a simple message – what can you do to protect our watersheds? Over 25 programs have been developed to introduce students to nature and to empower them to make a difference,” said Sharon Nethercott, Conservation Education Coordinator for the SCRCA.

This donation, specifically, will be used to support the Spring Water Awareness Program which teaches elementary school students in the St. Clair Region to be more aware of the power of water – especially during spring thaw.

“At Union Gas, we are committed to the safety of our employees and our communities,” said Wes Armstrong, director of storage and transmission operations, Union Gas. “We’re very pleased to continue our support of this program, which is helping to keep our children safe.”

“We are very pleased with our partnership with Union Gas,” said Steve Arnold, chair of the SCRCA. “These funds will be a great help in advancing our efforts to teach school children about the importance of safety around watercourses, and for all of us to continue to strive for healthy watersheds.”
