Messy crash in Sarnia

A Sarnia teen has been charged after a messy crash in the city.

Sarnia Police officials say on June 19, 2016, at approximately 9:50 pm, members of the Sarnia Police Service were dispatched regarding a motor vehicle collision in the area of Exmouth Street and Elizabeth Avenue in the City of Sarnia.

There the officers spoke to the complaint who advised that as he was travelling west bound on Exmouth Street in the curb lane, a pickup truck travelling at a high rate of speed, in the same direction, struck his vehicle causing the pickup truck to have lost control.

The pickup truck then mounted the curb striking a hydro pole and causing it the snap in half.

The pickup truck also struck two city signs that required repair and garbage to be scattered causing a mess.

The pickup truck then sped away.

Fortunately no one was injured.

As police were on scene continuing their investigation the suspect pickup returned.

The damage to the pickup was consistent to the damage at the scene.

In the end, the 18 year old male driver of the pickup truck was charged with careless driving and for failing to report damage to property on highway.
