Yoshio Shimizu of Wallaceburg

Yoshio-Shimizu-1467562073Mr. Yoshio “Yon” Shimizu passed away at Fairfield Park in Wallaceburg on July 2, 2016 at the age of 92.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Norma Jean and his daughter, Susan and her husband Cameron Green and his grandchildren Caitlin (Erik) and James (Monica).

Yon was born in Victoria, B.C. on February 21, 1924 and lived there until the dominion government exiled all persons of Japanese ancestry from the Pacific Coast during W.W. II. He chose to go to a road camp in Schreiber, Ontario on May the 11th, 1942 and eventually ended up in Toronto in June of 1943. He graduated from the University of Toronto in May of 1948 with a degree in Chemical Engineering and started working in August of 1948 with the Schultz Die Casting Company of Wallaceburg. He retired at the end of 1985 from Waltec Industries as Vice-President and General Manager. He was a kind and generous man, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be lovingly remembered always.

In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations to the local Salvation Army or Trinity United Church may be left at the funeral home.
