The Wallaceburg & District Chamber of Commerce are working in conjunction with local organizations, like the Wallaceburg BIA, to hold the first ever WallyFest.

“We want to offer an event that not only showcases the many, fabulous, small businesses in this area but also offers the families in our community a fun-filled afternoon right here in Wallaceburg,” said Tammy Chouinard, marketing and membership coordinator for the Wallaceburg Chamber.

The event had been scheduled to take place on July 23, but was postponed due to the uncertainty surrounding the downtown Wallaceburg sidewalk construction. It will now be held from 12 p.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 20.

This outdoor event will support many of Chamber members and other downtown merchants as they are being encouraged to open their doors and offer special deals exclusive to this event.

Downtown restaurants can even open their doors to offer patio space to their customers as James Street will be closed off for WallyFest.

The Chamber is also recruiting other local businesses, both brick & mortar located outside of the downtown area and home based, to set up as a vendor for $25-$35.

Additionally, the Chamber will have local organizations selling food and beverages and providing entertainment with various demonstrations including dancing by PURE Academy by Debbie McGonigle and Wallaceburg Martial Arts.

There will also be a Kid’s Zone which will feature a Human Hamster Ball Race, inflatables, face painting and a Water Blaster Maze.

Lastly, the Chamber will be supporting the agricultural neighbours by inviting any local farmers/entrepreneurs with a Farmer’s Market.

It will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

This market will be exclusively offered, at no charge, to those who sell from local crops and create products that are naturally and locally grown.

If you are interested in being a vendor at this event and/or would like more information about WallyFest 2016, contact the Wallaceburg Chamber office at 519-627-1443 or email at info@wallaceburgchamber.com.
