‘Bizarre’ incident leads to arrest in Sarnia

A man was brought into custody after a bizarre incident in Sarnia.

Police officials say on July 31, at approximately 8 a.m., a couple was walking along Christina Street in front of a local eating establishment when a 33 year old man confronted them and began yelling, ‘You want to die’ repeatedly.

The male who was uttering the threats was unknown to the couple.

The couple was frightened and confused by what was happening.

At one point the man gestured as if he had some sort of weapon which caused the couple to run into the eating establishment to ask for help.

The man continued yelling from outside the restaurant and threw an object at the window and spit on the window.

Once the suspect realized police were being called he fled the area.

Police arrived within a short time and were able to locate the suspect.

He was subsequently arrested and held for a bail hearing.

No weapon was found on his person.

The 33-year-old man was charged with breaching his undertaking and his probation, two counts of uttering threats, two counts of assault, and one count of mischief under $5,000.

He was held for a bail hearing.

The accused is not originally from Sarnia.
