Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is pleased to announce the arrival of Dr. Jonathan Marhong who will join the Internal Medicine team as a Critical Care Specialist.

Dr. Marhong was born in Toronto, Ontario and received his Doctorate of Medicine from McMaster University in Hamilton. He completed his Post Doctorate Training at the University of Toronto in Internal Medicine with specialization in Adult Critical Care.

Dr. Marhong has a strong interest in research and medical education. He was 1 of 2 in Ontario to receive the Physicians’ Services Incorporated Resident Research Grant and 1 of 14 to receive the Euro ELSO Young Fellow Grant which is an internationally recognized award in May 2014.

Dr. Marhong started working at CKHA on a part-time basis in December 2015 and made the decision to join the organization full-time in July 2016. He said that one of the major pulls of moving to Chatham-Kent and taking a full-time position in the Intensive Care Unit was because of the very caring and committed team.

“Patients are my inspiration for providing good patient care. I live by a quote from one of my mentors that ‘excellence is the only standard, and anything less is unacceptable,'” said Dr. Marhong.

In his spare time, Dr. Marhong enjoys creative writing, theatre, soccer and cooking. He and his fiancé are very excited about living and working in Chatham-Kent.
