Wallaceburg’s pool set to re-open

Sydenham-Pool

The community is being encouraged to celebrate the re-opening of the Wallaceburg Sydenham District Pool.

Municipal officials say on Saturday, September 10, 2016, the re-opening features two free swims from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. sponsored by the Optimist Club and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. sponsored by the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

During the closure, the current observation rooms were converted to an accessible washroom with a new entrance from the front reception area. The changes align with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Lambton Kent District School Board commitments in regards to accessibility.

Funding under Employment and Social Development Canada, Enabling Accessibility in Communities Grant provided $49,725 of the approximate $130,000 required to complete the renovations, with the additional funding split between the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and Lambton Kent District School Board.

The pool returns to regular schedule starting Sunday, September 11, 2016 with swimming lessons beginning Wednesday, September 14.

Register at the pool, at your local Municipal centre, or online at www.chatham-kent.ca/recreation.
