Several friends have called me a name lately. LOL
They’ve called me a “foodie”
I kinda like that! And… in some ways, I guess I am, or… I BECAME one.
You see, I grew up in a household where it was meat, ‘taters and veggies… every day. Combos like liver, parsnips and brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes, well… you get the picture.
Luckily, more than 40 years ago, I discovered Japanese cuisine and at university (and after) decided that I needed to learn to cook. Which I did.
Nowadays, I love growing my own garden.
I love freezing veggies for winter, and making pasta sauces for winter food. Soups too.
I also love to cook different things… seafood, Chinese, Italian and even Japanese.
And if someone had told me, even 10 years ago, that we would have such choices locally for different cuisines, I’d have said you were crazy! All the good restaurants were at least an hour or more from here. And I travelled a lot, just to try things.
Close to home now, in Chatham alone, Japanese (3), Indian, Korean, and Thai restaurants! I love it!
Another great one is in London – a Vietnamese place I’ve visited 3 times already.
Now we have another new one here in town. It’s called the “Stubby Goat”, and the owners are off to a GREAT start – excellent quality, nice staff, and the very smart moves of 1) keeping a limited menu – (not trying to please everyone) and 2) offering specialty days on a rotating basis.
I’m not a pizza person, but theirs is awesome, and my first Pasta night there was just incredible.
I love to cook, I love to garden, and I especially love to eat.
I guess I can live with the name “foodie”! 🙂
