Morning Coffee – By Aaron Hall

Here is everything you need to know about Positivity Day, which is being celebrated for the first time in Chatham-Kent today.

What is Positivity Day?

A group of like-minded residents have been working behind the scenes to organize a municipal-wide event to celebrate Positivity Day, which takes place every year on Sept. 13 in other parts of the world.

“Chatham-Kent is a great place to live and we know there are many people in our community who feel this way,” said Darrin Canniff, chair of the citizen group that is organizing Positivity Day in C-K. “So we decided it is time to band together to give a united voice to the significant population of positive people who live in Chatham-Kent.”

The goal is to have the entire community celebrate positivity in whatever way they choose on Sept. 13. There are many ways this can be done, including planting a tree, holding a fundraiser for a local charitable organization, having a staff barbecue or simply showing your appreciation for someone special in your life.

“We want to take this over the top to be an event that lays the foundation for bringing about a whole new attitude of positivity in Chatham-Kent,” Canniff said.
