Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame golf tourney held

The Wallaceburg Sports Hall of Fame held its 19th annual golf tournament on September 17, at Country View Golf course and some umbrellas got wet.

A total of 21 teams played in the tournament and after enjoyed a roast beef, chicken and salmon dinner catered by The Black Goose at the UAW hall.

Here are the results of the tournament:

– There was a tie for first in the men’s, both shooting 8 under par was Team Dave Johnston, including Bob Johnston, Tom Lozen and John Viglioni. They tied with Team Todd Gilhuly, including Evon Gilhuly, Shawn Gilhuly and Ted Gilhuly. Dave won the flip and was awarded first place.

– First in the Mixed was Kim Murray, John Murray, Gerry Bracken and Wendy Hentz.

– First in the ladies was Annette Lapointe, Ellen Cousins, Karen Debergh and Nancy Bechard.

– Longest drive for the men was Scott Arnold and the longest drive for the ladies was Wendy Hentz.

– Closest to pin for the men was Dalton Authier and closest to pin for the ladies was Kim Johnston.

– There was no winner of the Brand New Chrysler from Patterson Motors for a Hole-In-One on #4.

Recently the Sports Hall of Fame donated over $4,700 to Community Living, the Wallaceburg and District Museum, Wallaceburg Splash Pad, WDSS Sports and Wallaceburg young athletes to help pay travel expenses.
