Wallaceburg is set to receive an injection of funds from the province to fix up another busy street in town.
As part of Ontario’s Connecting Links Program, Chatham-Kent staff decided Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg was the project best suited for the program for this year.
This was rubber stamped and approved by Chatham-Kent council on Monday night.
C-K will now receive upwards to $3 million for the reconstruction, while any additional funding for the project will be covered by the road lifecycle budget.
The MTO Connecting Links Program, provides dedicated provincial funding for road and bridge projects on designated connecting link highways.
The Province of Ontario provided $20 million funding in 2016-2017 for the program which will increase to $25 million in 2017-2018 and to $30 million per year by 2018-2019.
Chatham-Kent staff will submit the application by Oct. 21.
The condition of roads in the Municipality is always a topic of conversation and debate across the community.
