Sonny Sands of Walpole Island First Nations

sonny-sands-1475851996Sonny Harold Dean Sands passed away peacefully at his home on Walpole Island on Thursday, October 6 in his 81st year.

He was born on Walpole Island on May 5, 1935 to Carrie and Joe Sands. He was predeceased by his brothers: Claude, Joseph, Clayton, Alfred, Rosslyn and his sister Sarah and will be missed by his sister Josephine.

Sonny was an avid hunter and traveler. He was employed as a hunting guide on Walpole Island by various hunting businesses, including St. Anne’s Hunt Club, once in his younger years and again later in life. Sonny travelled extensively in the Unites States and Canada. Sonny could light up any room with his incredible sense of humour. He will be greatly missed by his children, step-children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the world of friends that he acquired during his fun loving journey through life.

Visitation at Haycock Cavanagh Funeral Home on Friday, October 7 from 7-9 pm and Saturday, October 8 from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at the United Church on Walpole Island at 2:00 on Sunday, October 9, 2016 with Reverend Don Wonderly officiating.
