Charges laid after car hits cyclist

The Chatham-Kent Police Service has concluded their investigation after a cyclist was hit by a car earlier this month.

Police officials say on October 3, at approximately 9 p.m. emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a car and cyclist at the intersection of Queen Street and Park Avenue West.

The driver of the car, a 37-year-old Chatham man was not physically injured.

The cyclist, a 52-year-old Chatham man sustained life-threatening-injuries and was airlifted to London where he remains in critical condition.

Yesterday, the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Management Unit completed their investigation and the driver was charged with careless driving.
