‘Oversized load’ gets stuck on the 401

A Michigan trucker faces several charges after getting stuck on the 401.

OPP officials say on November 3, around 11 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a westbound transport truck hauling a modular home had become stuck on Highway 401 near Communication Road was not able to safely pass through the construction zone.

As a result, the male driver, a 50-year-old from Sault Sainte Marie Michigan, was charged with:

– Fail to maintain daily log, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Fail to surrender completed daily inspection report, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Over width load, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– Over length combination of vehicles, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act ; and

– Interfere with traffic, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

Highway 401 westbound, between Kent Bridge Road and Queens Line, was closed for several hours to allow for the safe removal of the transport truck.
