Organizers with the Pet and Wildlife Rescue (PAWR) group are scrambling after apparently all of their supplies were stolen in Chatham.

“This morning we are all in shock,” PAWR posted on social media.

“Who would come into our garage last night and steal all of our dog and cat food, all of our collars, leashes, harnesses, coats, dishes, our cat litter boxes and the mini fridges we were to use at the shelter starting this weekend?”

PAWR officials say this theft directly affects the animals they help.

“We are asking the public to help by reporting anything you may have seen or heard on Edgar Street (in Chatham) last night,” PAWR officials said.

“We will be at the shelter at 405 Park Ave. East all weekend and will welcome any extra supplies you may have to help us start all over again.”

PAWR had recently been awarded the animal control contract for Wards 2 and 6 in Chatham-Kent.

The contract for services with the OSPCA, and the lease of the existing animal shelter in Chatham, expires today (November 11).
