‘Power of social media’ leads to arrest

The ‘power of social media’ helped the Chatham-Kent Police Service make an arrest on Wednesday.

Police officials say on Wednesday, the CKPS requested the public’s assistance in identifying a man who attempted to steal $800 worth of tablets from Walmart on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Later that nightt, the man turned himself in to police.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of December 21, 2016.
