A St. Clair Township man is facing stunt driving charges after he was allegedly going 130 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

OPP officials say on December 9, 2016 at approximately 9:30 p.m. a member of the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was monitoring traffic on Oil Heritage Road in the area of Oil City, Enniskillen Township.

Through the use of a speed measuring device (RADAR), the OPP member was able identify that a 2016 Chevrolet Impala was travelling north bound on Oil Heritage Road in excess of 130 Km/Hr in a posted 50 Km/Hr.

As a result of additional investigation, a 20-year-old male from St. Clair Township was charged with alleged “stunt driving” (over 50 Km/Hr), his driver’s licence was suspended and his vehicle impounded for seven days.

The driver must attend the Sarnia Traffic Court on January 13, 2017 in order to answer to the allegation.

The OPP want to remind drivers that if you are travelling 50 Km/Hr or greater over the posted speed limit; there are immediate consequences… motor vehicle impoundment, a drivers licence suspension for a period of seven days and a required court date.
