Crossing guard hit by car in Sarnia

A crossing guard suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Sarnia on Wednesday morning.

Police officials say this morning, at approximately 8:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ontario Street and Talfourd Street regarding a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Members of the Sarnia Police Service Traffic Unit along with a member of the OPP Traffic Unit are currently on scene investigating the matter.

A 74-year-old crossing guard was struck and sustained serious injuries.

He is currently in hospital receiving medical attention.

The 24-year-old male driver did not sustain any physical injuries.

The scene remains closed to all traffic.

The Sarnia Police Service is seeking the assistance of any witnesses to the collision and they are please asked to contact PC Ron Szabo of the Traffic Unit at 519-344-8861 (extension 6127).
