Another assist for Griffith
Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith picked up an assist on the powerplay for the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.
Griffith’s helper came on a Reilly Smith goal at the 8:36 mark of the second period, which gave the Panthers a 2-1 lead at the time.
In the end, it was the Jets holding on to a 4-3 shootout victory over Florida.
Griffith was the third shooter for the Panthers in the shootout, but failed to hit the net on the breakaway chance.
The 23-year-old winger had the one assist, two hits and had an even +/- in 20 minutes of ice time.
Griffith now has three assists and no goals on the year in 15 games.
Florida heads to Colorado right away to face the Avalanche on Friday night.

Tartans top Flames in boys hoops
Gabe Namink scored 20 points for the Wallaceburg Tartans on Thursday night in a 46-26 win over the Chatham Christian Flames.
Ben Moyes added 6 points and Eric Powers scored 5 for the Tartans, who are now 5-0 on the year, tops in the LKSSAA Tier 2 division.
The Tartans will host St. Francois-Xavier in their next game after the holiday break on January 11.
L-K tops North Lambton Secondary School
The Lambton-Kent Cardinals topped North Lambton Secondary School 54-34 in senior boys basketball action on Thursday.
Kaelin Hunt led all scorers with 22 points.
The Dresden squad is now 3-2 on the season, good for third place in the LKSSAA Tier 2 division.
The Cards will host St. Francois-Xavier on December 22, their last regular season game before the holiday break.
Tartans win one in girls volleyball
The Wallaceburg Tartans split with the UCC Lancers two games on Thursday in LKSSAA ‘AA/AAA’ junior girls volleyball action.
The Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks took two games from the Tartans as well.
