Wallaceburg Lakers snap 22-game losing streak

The Wallaceburg Lakers snapped their 22-game losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the Petrolia Flyers on Wednesday night.

George Hill made 36 saves in the shutout victory.

Trevor Waller was the hero for Wallaceburg, scoring at the 12:57 mark of the third period for the games lone goal.

Nolan Farr and Justin Lindsay picked up assists on the play.

“They played a really good game tonight and in the end won 1-0,” the Lakers posted on social media.

“The lone goal of the game was scored by the ‘Captain’ Trevor Waller. As well, a big shout out to George Hill for all the great shots but he isn’t the only one to deserve credit. All the players on the ice tonight deserve to get credit for playing their hearts out.”

A total of 237 packed into Wallaceburg Memorial Arena for the game.

Wallaceburg will hope to make it two in a row against the Flyers, as they head to Petrolia on Thursday night.

The Lakers are now 2-30-1 on the season, last in the Hobbs Division. Petrolia is one spot ahead of Wallaceburg with a 6-23-0 record.

Puck drops in Petrolia at 7:30 p.m.
