The South Wallaceburg Community Group is holding a FREE community lunch and social later this month.

The event will take place on January 21 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Wallaceburg.

Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available and children activities will be held at the event.

The official name of the group is set to be announced at event as well.

The new Wallaceburg organization was initiated by the Chatham-Kent Police Community Mobilization group back in the fall.

The focus of the Mobilization group is building associations in neighbourhoods and the positive impact it can have.

Marjorie Crew, a former Chatham-Kent councillor and one of the coordinators for the Mobilization group, said in her experience, when associations are formed in neighbourhoods, positive things start happening.

“When people get together and people start talking to each other and getting to know each other, good things happen,” she said.

“You only need a few people to get the spark going.”
