The annual Bell Let’s Talk Day will be held on Wednesday, January 25 and a special event is being held at WDSS in Wallaceburg to mark the occasion.

Bell will donate 5¢ towards mental health initiatives in Canada, for every every text, call, tweet and Instagram post using #BellLetsTalk, Facebook video view and Snapchat geofilter made throughout the day.

In Wallaceburg, the WDSS PACE Program will be hosting the initiative at the school, in collaboration with the Walpole Island Suicide Awareness Committee and the WDSS Mental Wellness Student Committee.

“PACE will be hosting a Bell Let’s Talk forum on Wednesday, January 25th at lunch time, to discuss ways to help end the stigma of mental illness,” organizers said.

“We will also be discussing strategies on how we can become more aware of mental health related issues and how we can be healthier individuals, a healthier school and community. Lunch will be provided. Together, we will be one step closer to creating a stigma-free Canada.”

All staff and students will be given 5 to 10 minutes during class time to take part in the initiative.

A final tally of all the 5¢ donations will be counted up and announced at the end of the day.
