Black History luncheon in Dresden, PA Day activities, weekend weather

Let’s have a look at what is going on this weekend in the area:

– A special luncheon celebrating Black History Month will be held in Dresden today at Leila’s Legacy at 29575 St. George Street. Brenda and Steven from Uncle Tom’s Cabin Historic Site will be on hand for the celebration. The host for the event, Jackie Bernard has prepared an amazing lineup of food options, including: soup or salad, ham, mac and cheese, green beans, corn bread, peach cobbler, coffee and tea. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $12 per person. Call Jackie at 519-683-1575 to make a reservation.

– There will be zooming car races and zooming balloon rockets at the Wallaceburg Library today for their special PA Day program. Make your own Heli-zoomer and try their marshmallow zoomers. Children of all ages welcome. For supplies please register online at www.search.ckpl.ca or call 519-627-5292.

– There will be a FREE swim at the Sydenham Pool today from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Be a part of Club H20, a fun way to get active and learn about the importance of drinking water and your health. Drop by your local pool and enjoy free swims, sponsored by Super Kids CK. Club H20 will feature a fun pool atmosphere, a flavoured water station and the opportunity to learn about how reaching for water every day is the best choice.

– Canadian rockers The Tea Party are set to perform on the Capitol Theatre stage on Saturday, and the Sydenham Current is offering a discount on tickets.
