A Corunna woman faces charges after being caught travelling 85 km/h over the speed limit.

Sarnia Police officials say on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at approximately 12:30 p.m. a member of the Sarnia Police Service was running radar on the St. Clair Parkway.

At this time the officer observed a vehicle approaching at a high rate of speed and thus the officer activated his radar to confirm its speed. The radar took a reading of the speed and indicated the vehicle was travelling at 135 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone.

From there the Constable conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was a 34-year-old woman from Corunna.

Under the Highway Traffic Act the offender was charged with Stunt Driving due to the fact she was travelling 50 km/hr over the speed limit.

As part of the act, the vehicle driven by the driver was impounded for seven days and her driver’s licence will be suspended for seven days.

She was also issued with what is known as a Part III Summons to attend court at a later date regarding this offence and may face fines ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 along with further suspension time.
