Pair of impaired driving charges in C-K

The Chatham-Kent Police Service laid impaired driving charges in two separate incidents on Friday.

At approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, April 14th, the CKPS responded to a motor vehicle collision in Dover Township.

Police officials say officers arrived on scene and located a male party trapped under one of the involved vehicles.

Upon being extricated from the vehicle police determined that the he was one of the drivers and was impaired.

The accused was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance where he provided breath tests with results over two and a half times the legal limit.

The 44 year-old Dover Township male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood.

The accused was released from police custody with a future court date.

In the second incident. before 9 p.m. on Friday April 14th, police received a complaint of an impaired driver in the city of Chatham.

Police officials say at 9:09 p.m. police located the suspected vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Through observations of the driving patterns and through speaking with the driver, officers formed an opinion that the male party was impaired.

At 9:17 pm the 55 year-old Chatham man was placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service for breath tests.

After providing samples of his breath the male was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood.

The accused was released from police custody with a future court date.
