A false report of a stolen vehicle in Wallaceburg has resulted in several charges for a local couple.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials say a female had previously reported to police that her van had been stolen in Wallaceburg.

The van was later recovered in Wallaceburg, partially submerged in the river.

On Friday April 21, the woman attended Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for an interview.

As a result of the interview, the woman was arrested for public mischief and fraud under $5,000.

The woman was later released and given a future court date.

Police say her boyfriend, who had allegedly pushed the van into the river, was also arrested and released with a future court date.
