Dresden Kings captain named Junior ‘C’ Player of the Year

Dresden Kings captain Dillon Liberty has been named the Junior ‘C’ Player of the Year by the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA)

The Thamesville resident wrapped up his final season in junior hockey with the Dresden Kings in style.

The 21-year-old was the leading scorer in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Stobbs Division with 77 points in 38 games, and his 45 goals was the send highest total in the entire PJHL.

Only Dorchester’s Derek Todosichuk and Stayner’s Ben Hughes had more, with 46 apiece.

Liberty’s season got off to a flying start with 7 goals and 7 assists in the Kings’ first 5 games and he was named the Stobbs Division Player of the Month of September.

By the end of the season Liberty had amassed 45 goals and 32 assists and was named the Stobbs Division’s Most Valuable Player.

His 77 points placed him 6th overall in PJHL scoring for the 2016-17 season.

Liberty is currently working full time at Fastenal Canada and is actively involved in the community as a volunteer at local hockey camps, and assisted in raising money for Breast Cancer awareness.
