Chatham-Kent Public Library’s Chatham branch is inviting movie lovers to settle in every Tuesday afternoon this September for a lineup built entirely around acclaimed book-to-film adaptations.
Screenings run at 2 p.m. each week at the branch, with the series kicking off Sept. 1 with “The Goldfinch” (14A), starring Oakes Fegley, Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman, based on the novel by Donna Tartt.
The following week, Sept. 8, brings a modern retelling of Louisa May Alcott’s classic with “Little Women” (PG), featuring Sarah Davenport, Lea Thompson and Allie Jennings.
On Sept. 15, the library will show “The Lovely Bones” (PG), based on Alice Sebold’s novel and starring Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Saoirse Ronan.
“Never Let Me Go” (14A), adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel and starring Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, screens Sept. 22.
The series wraps up Sept. 29 with “Indian Horse” (14A), based on Richard Wagamese’s novel and featuring Ajuawak Kapashesit, Wayne Baker and Sladen Peltier.
All are welcome to attend the Tuesday afternoon movies, and registration is not required. A $2 donation is suggested at the door.
